A s 2021 comes to an end, I had the pleasure of meeting up with Kaden (@koshubaru on Intstagram) and taking some photos of his right hand drive WRX in the snow!
This was bit of a spur of the moment photoshoot, as Kaden was in town visiting his family for the holidays. With just a couple of days remaining before he left Vernon, we decided it would be awesome to get a quick photoshoot in.
In order to keep us, and more importantly the vehicle, safe, we decided to only keep the photoshoot infront of his parents house. Thankfully, it's a pretty quiet street and we only had to deal with a handful of cars driving by.
Towards the end of the photoshoot, we thought it would look cool to get some rolling shots. Unfortunately, with the summer tire issue plus not having somebody to drive my car, we couldn't do proper rollers.
I decided to improvise by doing some panning shots.
We decided to hop in the car and go search for another location that might work better for this. Being in the snow, I saw a hill infront of us that I assumed there was no chance of us making it up on summer tires in the ice and snow. Was I ever wrong!
Apparently all wheel drive is even better than I thought! Having only ever driven a little bit front wheel drive and worse yet, mostly rear wheel drive in the snow, I was flabergasted when this little Subaru picked up and drove up that hill with ease.
In the end we decided that we were already at the best location for the photos we wanted so we drove up the hill for nothing but some brownie points towards the efficiency of all wheel drive.
Although this was a chilly day for a photoshoot, did I mention it was -28C outside? I had one major take away from this photoshoot.
Photography gloves are under-rated!! I definitely need to buy some next winter, any suggestions?
In all seriousness, no matter how horrible the conditions are, getting together with a friend and talking about cars while snapping some photos is always a good time! You may think that you would just get used to the cold after a while, but your finger tips would like to suggest otherwise.
